Swinley Forest Meeting 2024

After last year’s cancellation due to bad weather, it was a joy to be able to stage this popular Royal Swedish Golfing Society (RSGS) season ending event at Swinley Forest on November 1st. The overall attendance was a healthy 21 players, with nine ladies and eleven men taking part.

Conditions were ideal for autumn golf; calm, overcast, and cool. The course was very well presented in all respects and given rain of recent weeks, the greens true and fairly quick.

It was a particular pleasure for RSGS to welcome back one of our longest standing members: Paul Williams. Paul presented the Scratch Prize bearing his name to this year’s winner Gary Thomas. He took the opportunity to explain that the prize is an old hickory shafted club made in 1912, the same year as the Society was founded. Furthermore, Paul donated a brooch in the form of the RSGS logo, as well as 6 teaspoons and left it up to the committee to decide how they are to be used. Watch this space to see how you can compete for them in the future.

Well done to the winners and thanks to every one of our members who took part in this and the other events this year.
